STEEL DOCK DOOR AT TMA TERMINAL AMSTERDAM

In December, this large steel dock door was handled at the quay of the TMA Amsterdam terminal. The dock door is for a new shipyard of Royal van Lent – Feadship. Upon arrival the colossus weighed 150 tons and after additional concrete was poured the dock door weighed 202 tons. First the dock door arrived at our terminal by special road transport, which was a challenging ‘operation’. Then the steel dock door was filled with concrete here on the quay and extensively tested in the water. All went well and the final product could be shipped to the Royal van Lent – Feadschip shipyard in Kaag (South Holland). This final transport took place by water; the dock door was lifted from the quay into the water by the floating sheerlegs Triton and this sheared the dock door further to its final destination. Great project!
